Making mistakes can be difficult for anyone but for neurodiverse children it can cause a lot of anxiety. Learning how to print can be challenging because there are so many opportunities to “make a mistake.” In this session “Supporting Perfectionist Neurodivergent Children,” I will give simple tips on how to address this concern and maybe make learning to print and use writing tools a bit less stressful for both the child and the parent.
My name is Alyssa Kennedy. I am a homeschool mom from Winnipeg, MB. I have a 7 year old son and a 3.5 year old daughter. My family is neurodivergent and that has made me re-evaluate how I teach and what unrealistic expectations I was holding on to. I now put value on learning from our passions, life experiences, and exploring the world around us. I love doing research on topics like autism, neurodivergence, gentle parenting, and outdoor learning.
